Mikes Thoughts

Malaysia right there

It's getting closer to us going. Well not really but we are closer than we have been in awhile. So I write. It's both exciting and kinda stressful. In a few days, will get our seats confirmed. Then within three days of going must do the Malaysia digital arrival cards for us. I was looking back at last time I was there. Was it really 6 years ago? Over a Christmas time. I left Manila with no desire to be there and looked at likely flights. On a day or so, I just decided KL would be nice for 10 days. Really cannot do that any longer. My wife is not good with spontaneous things. She likes to know a thing will happen and count on it. Watch it arrive. I used to do this a lot though. Especially back to Vietnam from wherever I was. I think my old passport got filled with lots of visas for Vietnam then. These days, mostly are retirement extensions of stay here. One each year on a full page of the passport. I got the new passport from the consulate in Hanoi in 2020. It took them two weeks to do the deed.

writing daily is nice

Well that's a not so subtle change but this is my place. My rules :-). I am really liking this whole writing thing now with 11ty and how I own this blog between the Mac and the phone. It's easy to use a platform. Way easy. I love them all. They all fit for someone but when I cast the net the only one besides this was Blot. Some seem like nice like Bear. Others I don't think I could use. Won't name names but I tried them. I think if I did pull the plug it would be just back to Blot again. There's something so basic yet wonderful about static sites. It really prompts me to want to write and carry the writing forward to a coffee shop in the mornings where I can find my freedom.

Each time I've wanted to choose a thing, I would ask or look to see how I would publish from Android. It should be easy too. I guess the hardest part is git and being somewhat basic in its use. I don't use the desktop. I just like the commands to run. On Android we have no Working Copy app. Instead now we have this very functional Git Sync app. It works well at letting me commit to the private git repo that fuels this site. I guess the real glue though is Syncthing. It just works about 90% of the time and the other 10 or so it needs some assistance. It gets kinda funked up and needs basic care. I don't mind that. The 90 I get is flawless and almost instantaneous. That's for free and secure folks. No cloud involved.

I've determined to write some more but right now I am gonna get ready to go. Even getting lousy sleep which seems like the norm these days disappears when I walk. Then I feel this Mike power exert. Like my own personal git repo got a new commit.

on to more

Decide on longer walk to coffee. Really nice morning. Think on Malaysia and of course some photo comes up. Not to a place we are going. Malaysia is full of places to just go. And go.

Georgetown

I think I'd like to get there again. There's this infusion of culture, history and food. Lovely city to walk. Wonderful street art too although some is disappearing.

Anyways that's my more. Always some bit of this to commit. And that.
